Hamas Delegation Arrives in Egypt for Ceasefire, Prisoner Swap Talks

DaysofPal-Khalil al-Hayya, Hamas’s newly elected leader, called on regional mediators to take urgent action to ensure the Israeli occupation authorities comply with the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

In messages addressed to the leaders of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, al-Hayya urged immediate intervention to halt what he described as ongoing Israeli crimes and violations and to enforce the terms of the ceasefire agreement.

Al-Hayya said the Israeli occupation has escalated its military operations in recent days in an effort to obstruct progress toward an agreement that would ensure security and stability and advance the ceasefire to its next phase.

According to al-Hayya, the Israeli violations include the killing of Palestinians, attacks on civilians, the destruction of homes and infrastructure, and the expansion of Israeli control over additional areas.

He also cited continued restrictions on the entry of food, medicine, humanitarian aid, and materials needed to repair hospitals, municipal facilities, and other essential infrastructure.

Al-Hayya said the figures included in his messages indicate that 1,143 Palestinians have been killed, including 409 women, children, and elderly people, while 3,616 others have been injured, among them 1,789 women, children, and elderly people.

He described the Israeli actions as a challenge to the role of the guarantor states and the broader international community, calling on mediators to intensify efforts to preserve the ceasefire, ensure its full implementation, and advance it to the next phase.
