DaysofPal – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres warned on Thursday that civilians in the Gaza Strip continue to pay a heavy price because of ongoing Israeli attacks despite the ceasefire, citing the worsening humanitarian situation in the territory.

Speaking on Thursday, Guterres warned that conditions across the Middle East risk further escalation, stressing that “there is no military solution to the conflict.”

He emphasized that diplomacy remains the only viable path to resolving the crisis and preventing a broader deterioration in regional stability.

The UN chief reiterated his call for the protection of civilians in Gaza and for full respect for international law as humanitarian conditions in the enclave continue to deteriorate.

He also called for intensified international engagement to halt the Israeli attacks and support diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring stability.

Guterres reaffirmed the United Nations’ support for regional and international mediation efforts to contain the crisis, urging coordinated action to stop the ongoing Israeli genocide.

Meanwhile, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that 1,185 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, 2025, while 3,816 others have been injured. The ministry also said 803 bodies have been recovered from beneath the rubble during the same period.

According to the ministry, the overall death toll from the Israeli genocide since October 7, 2023, has risen to 73,311 Palestinians killed and 173,924 injured.
