At least 16 Palestinians have been killed or recovered from the rubble across Gaza over the past 48 hours, according to local health authorities.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported on Saturday that hospitals had received 16 bodies in total. Seven of them were killed in recent Israeli strikes, while nine others were pulled from under collapsed buildings following earlier attacks.
Over the same period, 16 additional people were reported injured. Authorities also said that rescue teams are still unable to reach other victims believed to be trapped beneath debris due to limited access and ongoing constraints.
Officials did not provide further details on the specific incidents that led to the deaths and injuries.
The latest fatalities come despite a US-brokered “ceasefire” agreement reached in Gaza in October. While large-scale fighting has decreased, intermittent attacks have continued in the enclave.
Since the truce took effect, Gaza health officials say violations have resulted in 1,066 deaths and 3,445 injuries.
The overall toll since the start of the war in October 2023 has now reached 73,090 killed and 173,550 wounded, according to the ministry.
During the ceasefire period, Israeli forces have also continued to expand areas under their control inside Gaza and have issued new displacement orders affecting civilians. In late May, Israeli leadership stated that military control had expanded to more than 70 percent of the territory.
The ceasefire agreement had outlined a second phase involving the release of remaining detainees, prisoner exchanges, Hamas disarmament, and a gradual Israeli withdrawal. However, negotiations have remained stalled, mainly over these unresolved conditions.
