Israeli Settlers Attack Palestinians Across Occupied West Bank

DaysofPal- A Palestinian man injured during a settler attack on the village of Deir Abu Mashal, northwest of Ramallah, has recounted details of the assault that left four members of the same family wounded, including one person reported to be in serious condition.

Sond Zohran, one of the injured victims, said the attack occurred while a group of Palestinians was present on their land. Speaking to local media, he explained that a vehicle carrying several settlers stopped near them before its passengers got out and approached the group directly.

According to Zohran, the settlers opened fire when the Palestinians attempted to return to their vehicle. The attackers then launched a violent assault using clubs, stones, axes, and other sharp objects.

He said the attack continued until the victims were no longer able to move. The settlers then stole their mobile phones before leaving the area.

Local sources said the assault took place in the al-Qarana Hill area, south of Deir Abu Mashal, where a group of residents came under direct attack from settlers, resulting in injuries of varying severity to four people.

The incident occurred only hours after dozens of Palestinians reached a settler outpost that had been established on village land and dismantled it. The action was followed by confrontations with Israeli forces, who reportedly fired large quantities of tear gas toward local residents.

Earlier, Israeli occupation forces had entered the village during Friday prayers in an effort to prevent residents from reaching al-Qarana Hill and protesting the establishment of the outpost. According to local accounts, the army told residents it would handle the removal of the outpost itself.

Settlers Re-establish Outpost

Despite the earlier dismantling efforts, settlers reportedly returned on Friday morning and erected a new tent at the same location. The move came days after the outpost had been removed following a court order and was viewed by local residents as another attempt to impose a settlement presence on village land.

The events have heightened tensions in the area, where Palestinians have increasingly voiced concerns over settlement expansion and land confiscation.

The attack comes amid a broader rise in settler violence across the occupied West Bank. According to the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, 1,659 attacks were documented during May alone, including 551 carried out by settlers.

Palestinian officials and rights groups have warned that such incidents are becoming more frequent and increasingly violent, contributing to growing instability in communities located near settlements and settlement outposts.
