“Leveled to the Ground”: Israeli Army Minister Brags About Gaza’s Destruction

DaysofPal- Hamas said that Israel committed a blatant violation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement after Israeli occupation forces reportedly moved the so-called “yellow line” westward in eastern Gaza City and carried out shelling and displacement operations in the area.

In a statement issued on Friday, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem asserted that the Israeli military’s actions represented a direct breach of the ceasefire arrangements and reflected Israel’s intention to expand its control over territory in the Gaza Strip.

Qassem argued that the move translated earlier statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding increasing the percentage of Gaza under Israeli control. He also criticized the silence of the “Peace Council” and its director, as well as the inability of mediating and guarantor states to prevent the latest alleged violation.

The developments, according to Qassem, occur at a delicate time because they coincide with ongoing negotiations in Cairo and a constructive approach displayed by Palestinian factions during the discussions.

He said the latest actions indicate that Israel is unwilling to implement the ceasefire agreement and is instead seeking to derail negotiations, undermine mediation efforts, and continue military escalation for political and electoral purposes.

According to local sources, Israeli occupation forces have moved the yellow boundary markers approximately 300 meters westward in several areas of the Gaza Strip over the past week, particularly in the al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City.

The “yellow line” refers to the separation line to which Israeli occupation forces were expected to withdraw under the first phase of a U.S.-backed plan aimed at ending the war in Gaza. The arrangement entered into force in October 2025, although Palestinian groups argue that Israel has not fully adhered to its terms.

On May 15, Netanyahu stated that Israeli occupation forces controlled approximately 60 percent of the Gaza Strip and indicated that his government intended to expand that figure to 70 percent.

The latest accusations come amid ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement by restricting the entry of agreed-upon quantities of food, medicine, medical supplies, shelter materials, and prefabricated housing units into Gaza. Palestinian officials also accuse Israel of failing to fully reopen border crossings as stipulated in the agreement.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, ceasefire violations have resulted in the deaths of 981 Palestinians and injuries to 3,111 others since the agreement took effect.

The developments unfold against a worsening humanitarian backdrop across the Gaza Strip. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians continue to live in tents and temporary shelters after their homes were destroyed or severely damaged during the war.

Many displaced families have been forced to move multiple times and now reside in overcrowded camps that lack basic services and essential infrastructure, deepening the hardships faced by civilians throughout the territory.
