DaysofPal — Israeli forces arrested seven ambulance workers from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society on Tuesday morning while they were carrying out humanitarian duties along Salah al-Din Street in central Gaza, the Health Ministry in the enclave said.
In a statement, the ministry said Israeli forces later released five of the detained paramedics after interrogating them, while two others remain in custody.
The ministry condemned the arrests and called for the immediate release of the detained ambulance drivers, stressing that targeting medical teams and obstructing their work constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law.
It warned that such practices undermine ongoing efforts to provide healthcare and emergency medical services to civilians across the Gaza Strip.
The arrests come as Israel continues its military offensive on Gaza and amid ongoing violations targeting civilians, medical personnel, and ambulance crews, according to the ministry.
