DaysofPal- Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem stated on Monday that the killing of nearly 1,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire came into effect demonstrates that the genocidal war against the territory has not ended. He said Gaza’s residents continue to face an ongoing massacre, accusing Israel of systematically violating the ceasefire agreement.
In a press statement, Qassem emphasized that the continued casualties place political, moral, and legal responsibility on all parties involved, particularly the mediating and guarantor countries, to pressure Israel and compel it to halt the repeated violations of the truce.
He also called on the United Nations Security Council to prove, “even once,” its commitment to achieving peace by identifying the party obstructing the agreement and exerting pressure to ensure compliance with its terms.
Qassem further stressed that both the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation bear a moral and political responsibility to take effective action to stop the open-ended massacre against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
Israeli occupation forces have continued to violate the ceasefire through ongoing airstrikes and artillery shelling targeting areas where displaced civilians are sheltering. These actions are reportedly accompanied by demolitions and destruction within the designated “Yellow Line,” alongside a sustained restriction on the movement of goods, humanitarian aid, and travel.
Data released by the Palestinian Ministry of Health indicate that the death toll since the ceasefire began on October 10 of last year has risen to 977 Palestinians, with 3,063 others injured. The ministry also reported 782 bodies recovered from previously inaccessible areas.
The ministry added that the overall toll from the genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, has reached approximately 72,987 deaths and 173,171 injuries, underscoring the heavy human cost of the continuing conflict in the besieged enclave.
