DaysofPal- Palestinian calls are intensifying for a stronger presence at Al-Aqsa Mosque, urging worshippers to remain at the compound and confront plans by settler groups to carry out large-scale incursions on the coming Friday.
These appeals emphasize the importance of maintaining a continuous presence at the mosque despite Israeli restrictions and military measures. They come alongside increasing warnings of a potentially dangerous step that settlers are expected to attempt over the weekend.
The situation unfolds amid ongoing daily incursions into the compound by settlers, who carry out the provocative tours through its courtyards and perform Talmudic rituals, including prostration.
Yehuda Glick, a prominent figure linked to Jewish temple movements, recently entered the compound and led such rituals, drawing strong criticism from Palestinian factions.
Hamas official Majed Abu Qteish condemned the move, describing it as a deliberate escalation targeting the sanctity of the mosque and part of ongoing efforts to impose a “Judaization” reality.
He said these organized actions, supported by an extremist Israeli government, would not succeed in altering the identity of the mosque or removing its religious and historical significance for Palestinians and the wider Muslim community.
Abu Qteish warned that continued actions of this kind could trigger a serious escalation, stressing that the mosque is facing an unprecedented and aggressive campaign. He called for a unified national and Islamic response that matches the level of risk.
He renewed calls for mobilization, urging Palestinians to travel to Jerusalem, increase their presence at the mosque, and prevent it from being left vulnerable to further incursions. He also emphasized the need to expand all forms of public presence to protect the site.
