DaysofPal- Hamas has called on the international community and all relevant actors to take immediate action to stop escalating demolition operations in occupied East Jerusalem, urging pressure on Israeli occupation forces to halt ongoing violations against Palestinians.
In a statement issued Tuesday, Hamas characterized the escalation of demolitions by Israeli forces in occupied Jerusalem as an open war on the Palestinian presence. Highlighting the recent issuance of demolition orders for dozens of residential and commercial structures in neighborhoods such as Al-Ram, Kafr ‘Aqab, and Qalandiya, the movement asserted that these actions are a systematic effort to displace residents and empty the city of its Palestinian inhabitants.
The statement emphasized that the escalation of demolition orders and military raids constitutes a flagrant violation of all international norms and laws. Hamas asserted that the intensification of these policies during ongoing military incursions highlights a dangerous targeting of the city’s status and its people’s rights.
Hamas reaffirmed that Jerusalem remains Palestinian land and rejected Israeli sovereignty over the city. It added that Palestinians would continue to resist displacement policies and efforts to reshape the city’s identity.
On the ground, Israeli occupation forces continued large-scale raids in Qalandiya refugee camp and the towns of al-Ram and Kafr Aqab, north of Jerusalem. Local authorities reported that more than 35 young men were arrested during the operations, which also included house searches and property damage.
The Jerusalem Governorate said that forces began the raids in the early hours of the morning, carrying out extensive searches and forcing residents out of several homes, which were then turned into military positions.
The operations were accompanied by the use of drones and a heavy military presence.
Officials reported multiple injuries during the incursions, including cases involving live ammunition and physical assaults, as well as dozens of people suffering from tear gas inhalation in residential neighborhoods.
The raids also led to widespread detentions and on-site interrogations inside homes. Several roads and entrances were closed, causing near-total disruption to daily life in the affected areas.
At the same time, Israeli occupation forces issued demolition notices for dozens of homes and commercial facilities in the targeted areas, marking a significant escalation alongside the ongoing military operations.
