DaysofPal- The Hamas Movement on Saturday said that the Israeli occupation is showing “total disregard” for mediation efforts aimed at consolidating a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, after six Palestinians were killed in an attack on Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said in a press statement on 11 April 2026 that Israeli forces had committed a “horrific massacre” by killing six civilians in Al-Bureij camp.
Qassem described the incident as part of an ongoing “war of extermination” that has continued despite the “misleading talk” about the durability of the ceasefire.
The bodies of those killed were transferred to Al-Awda Hospital in central Gaza, according to local reports.
Qassem said the attack underscored the legitimacy of the demands put forward by Palestinian resistance factions in Gaza, namely the need to compel the Israeli occupation to fully implement the first phase of the ceasefire agreement, including halting all violations, before moving to the obligations of the second phase.
“It is clear that the occupation is dealing with complete recklessness toward all the efforts of mediators and guarantor states,” Qassem said, accusing Israel of “disregarding everyone’s calls to stop the massacres and to comply with the obligations of the agreement.”
Rights groups and Palestinian factions have repeatedly charged that systematic Israeli violations have eroded the substance of the Gaza ceasefire, which formally took effect on 11 October 2025.
Since that ceasefire came into force, the total number of Palestinians killed has risen to 783, with 2,036 wounded, according to figures cited in the statement.
In addition, rescue teams have recovered 759 bodies from under the rubble of destroyed buildings.
Cumulatively, since the start of the war on the Gaza Strip on 7 October 2023, the death toll has reached 72,317 Palestinians, with 172,158 others injured with varying degrees of severity, the figures added.
The latest incident comes amid continued international and regional mediation efforts to stabilize the ceasefire and prevent a relapse into full-scale hostilities, as well as growing international concern over the humanitarian situation and the protection of civilians in Gaza.
