DaysofPal- Ismail al-Thawabta, director of the government media office in the Gaza Strip, has rejected widely circulated figures claiming that hundreds of aid trucks have entered the enclave, stating that such numbers do not reflect the reality on the ground.
Al-Thawabta emphasized that the reported figures lack accuracy and credibility, stressing that they overlook the vast scale of humanitarian needs. He says there is a big gap between the aid that should be entering the area and what is actually being delivered.
He warned that promoting such figures raises serious questions about the motives behind them. He suggested they may be part of efforts to improve the image of an already difficult humanitarian situation, deflect attention from strict restrictions on aid entry, or ease growing international pressure linked to conditions in Gaza.
He also criticized a response issued by the Israeli coordinator, describing it as an attempt to divert attention from documented facts and to undermine professional sources that rely on precise field data. He argued that such conduct does not align with standards of transparency or the responsibilities expected of relevant parties.
The director stressed that the government media office bases its reports on direct field monitoring and trusted sources, maintaining a commitment to accuracy and professionalism without political bias or misinformation.
He called on international actors to verify information carefully and avoid relying on incomplete or selective narratives. He urged stronger efforts to ensure that humanitarian aid flows into Gaza in quantities that match the real needs of its population.
He concluded by asserting that attempts to misrepresent reality through inaccurate statistics will not change the truth of the humanitarian crisis. Furthermore, such figures do not absolve the occupation or relevant parties of their legal and humanitarian responsibilities. Instead, he noted, these discrepancies demand further international scrutiny and accountability.
