DaysofPal – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned that ongoing regional escalation is directly impacting the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, as all border crossings, including the Rafah Crossing, remain closed.
In a statement, OCHA said the closure has led to the postponement of UN staff rotations, resulting in the suspension of medical evacuations and the return of displaced residents.
Despite efforts to maintain the flow of essential supplies, the agency cautioned that the continuation of a full blockade threatens to halt aid deliveries entirely.
The office also reported that fuel consumption has been rationed due to dwindling reserves, affecting the operations of bakeries, hospitals, and water desalination plants.
Waste collection services have been suspended, further compounding public health concerns.
In some areas of Gaza, residents are receiving as little as two liters of drinking water per day, while prices of basic commodities have begun to rise.
In the occupied West Bank, OCHA noted that most checkpoints have been closed, severely restricting Palestinian movement.
The closures have disrupted livelihoods, access to essential services, and ongoing humanitarian operations.
OCHA stressed the urgent need to protect civilians and ensure the unimpeded entry and movement of humanitarian aid, in accordance with international humanitarian law.
