DaysofPal – Israel’s military escalation in the Gaza Strip continued, with artillery shelling and heavy gunfire targeting areas located inside and near the so-called “Yellow Line,” a zone under Israeli control that covers more than 53 percent of the territory.
Civil defense crews recovered the remains of 20 people from beneath the rubble of a home destroyed during the war in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza. The house had been struck while residents were inside. Using basic tools and working under harsh conditions, rescue teams transferred the bodies to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City in preparation for burial.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that one person was killed and five others were wounded during the past 24 hours. Since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, 2025, the ministry has recorded 630 deaths and 1,698 injuries. It also confirmed the recovery of 735 bodies during that period.
According to the ministry’s cumulative figures, the total death toll since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, has reached 72,097, with 171,796 injured. Many victims remain trapped under rubble or lying in streets, with ambulance and civil defense teams unable to reach them due to limited equipment and restricted access to areas under Israeli control.
On the ground, Israeli artillery struck the outskirts of the Shujaiya neighborhood east of Gaza City, where heavy machine-gun fire was also reported. Similar attacks hit areas near the Zeitoun neighborhood in the southeast of the city. Residents said gunfire extended beyond the boundaries of the “Yellow Line” into zones sheltering displaced families.
Northern Gaza also came under bombardment, particularly the outskirts of Jabalia and Beit Lahia. Israeli tanks opened fire with heavy machine guns toward eastern Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, and intermittent shooting was heard near the perimeter of Al-Bureij refugee camp. In the south, Israeli forces renewed intense shelling of neighborhoods east of Khan Younis, with gunfire crossing the “Yellow Line” there as well.
Under the ceasefire agreement, Israel was expected to withdraw from these areas during the second phase of implementation. However, Israeli forces remain in control and continue launching attacks across the Strip, actions that have resulted in thousands of additional casualties since the truce began.
The Civil Defense authority said it has recovered thousands of bodies from destroyed homes, streets, and targeted land throughout the war. Thousands more are believed to remain under collapsed buildings. Rescue operations are hindered by a severe shortage of machinery and equipment, along with Israeli restrictions that block access to certain locations.
The agency reported that 142 of its personnel were killed while carrying out humanitarian duties. It stated that 39 rescue vehicles were completely destroyed, along with 18 out of 19 civil defense headquarters across Gaza, including the main directorate building in Gaza City. Appeals for heavy equipment to assist in recovery operations have gone unanswered, while Israeli authorities continue to prevent the entry of rescue supplies.
At the same time, Israel has kept Gaza’s crossings closed, blocking the entry of food, medical supplies, and shelter materials. Under ceasefire understandings, 600 aid trucks were expected to enter the territory each day. Israeli authorities currently allow only one-third of that number to pass, deepening the humanitarian crisis faced by Gaza’s population.
