DaysofPal— Israeli occupation forces have stepped up military measures in Jerusalem and the West Bank, closing the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Ibrahimi Mosque, barring worshippers and staff from entering.
The move coincides with unprecedented tightening of checkpoints and road closures in Palestinian towns, amid concerns that the Israel-US war on Iran may be used to enforce new realities on the ground.
Local sources reported that Israeli forces evacuated all worshippers from Al-Aqsa’s courtyards and closed four main gates, Bab al-Qattanin, Bab al-Hadid, Bab al-Ghawanma, and Bab al-Malik Faisal, citing emergency measures due to regional developments. Restrictions on worship have been recurrent during periods of heightened security.
In Hebron, the Ibrahimi Mosque was closed indefinitely, preventing religious endowment staff from accessing the site. All main gates were sealed, and the surrounding neighborhoods turned into military zones, with heavy deployment of troops along key routes.
The Anti-Wall and Settlement Commission reported that over 916 military checkpoints and gates now exist across the West Bank, including 243 installed since that date, severely disrupting daily life and the local economy.
Observers link this tightened control to the Israel-Iran confrontation, warning that the Israeli government may exploit the war to impose further restrictions on Palestinians and create new realities in Jerusalem and the West Bank under broad security pretexts.
