DaysofPal – Israeli occupation forces have repeatedly violated the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, including by destroying buildings and carrying out targeted killings, thus intensifying their military operations there. The continuation of these activities, observers caution, could jeopardize the ceasefire and erode the political will behind it.
The Gaza Ministry of Health reported that the total death toll from Israeli attacks since October 2023 has reached 72,027, with 171,651 people injured.
The ministry stated that since the ceasefire took effect, Israeli forces have committed at least 1,520 violations, resulting in 576 deaths and 1,543 injuries. Many victims remain trapped under rubble or on roads, as civil defense and ambulance teams are unable to reach them.
The violations include 522 incidents of gunfire, 73 incursions by military vehicles into residential areas, 704 bombardments, and 221 demolitions of homes and buildings. Among the casualties, 288 are children, women, and elderly civilians, compared to 268 men, meaning civilians account for roughly 99% of all fatalities. Among the wounded, over 900 are children, women, and the elderly, totaling 1,488 civilian injuries, or 99.2% of the injured.
Israeli forces continue to occupy more than 50% of Gaza, including the southern and eastern strips and large parts of the north.
During the first 95 days of the ceasefire, Israel carried out 1,244 violations, killing 449 Palestinians, injuring 1,246, and arresting 50 people. This occurred despite the implementation of guarantees under the second phase of the agreement, following a war that destroyed 90% of Gaza’s infrastructure, with the UN estimating reconstruction costs at around $70 billion.
The violations included 402 incidents of direct fire on civilians, 66 military incursions into residential areas, 581 bombardments targeting homes and citizens, and 195 demolitions of homes, institutions, and other civilian buildings.
Since the start of the second phase of the ceasefire on January 15, 2026, at least 276 Israeli violations have been recorded over 21 days, resulting in 125 Palestinian deaths and 272 injuries. During this period, 150 incidents of fire on civilians, seven incursions by military vehicles, 123 bombardments targeting civilians and their homes, and 26 demolitions were documented.
In addition to daily bombardments, Israel continues to block the delivery of agreed-upon supplies of food, medicine, medical equipment, and shelter materials to Gaza, where approximately 2.4 million Palestinians, including 1.5 million displaced persons, live in dire conditions.
Hamas regularly calls on international mediators and the global community to pressure Israel to halt its ongoing war in Gaza.
Following delays and attempts to evade the agreement, the United States announced in mid-January the commencement of the second phase of the ceasefire plan based on former President Donald Trump’s proposals.
