DaysofPal – A recent study published by The Guardian, conducted by the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, shows that the population of the Gaza Strip has fallen by approximately 254,000 people, representing a 10.6% decrease compared to pre-war estimates before the Israeli offensive began on October 7, 2023.
The comprehensive study recorded the deaths of 18,592 children and around 12,400 women in Gaza by the end of 2025. The research warned that, despite the ceasefire agreement reached in October 2025, hundreds of Palestinians have continued to be killed since that time.
The study highlighted the collapse of international law designed to limit the effects of war, noting that war crimes have spread uncontrollably, with near-total impunity for those responsible.
Since the beginning of the conflict in Gaza, over 71,000 Palestinians have been killed, and more than 171,000 have been injured due to Israeli attacks. According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, Israeli forces have killed 526 Palestinians and wounded 1,405 since the ceasefire came into effect on October 10, 2025.
During the war, Israel reportedly dropped over 200,000 tons of explosives on Gaza, according to official Gaza statistics.
The director of the Ministry of Health, Munir Al-Barsh, previously stated that approximately 50,000 children were born in Gaza in 2025, representing an 11% decline from pre-war birth rates, reflecting the severe deterioration of healthcare and living conditions caused by Israel’s genocidal campaign.
Human rights organizations and the Ministry of Health have also documented the deaths of hundreds of patients and elderly residents due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the devastating effects of the occupation’s military operations on Gaza.
