DaysofPal- Mohammad Ahmad al-Basyouni, a recently released Palestinian prisoner from Beit Hanoun, has died after his health deteriorated due to injuries sustained earlier this month. According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office, al-Basyouni had been arrested twice by Israeli forces and was most recently released as part of the latest prisoner exchange deal.
His injuries occurred when his tent, located atop the Deir al-Balah municipality building in central Gaza, collapsed due to strong winds. He sustained serious wounds and was transferred to al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, where he remained in intensive care until he succumbed to his injuries.
His death comes as Gaza faces a deepening humanitarian catastrophe. Freezing temperatures, ongoing Israeli bombardment, and the blockade have displaced more than 1.5 million Palestinians, forcing them to live in makeshift shelters lacking even the most necessities.
As winter storms intensify, the death toll continues to rise, especially among children and the elderly—due to an acute shortage of heating, medical care, and adequate shelter.
