DayofPal — Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called for history books to omit Gaza genocide victims, and promote a narrative that frames Israel as the sole victim.
Speaking at the MirYam Institute Israel Security Briefing, Pompeo argued that future generations must be taught a version of events centered on Israeli victimhood following the October 7 Al-Aqsa Flood resistance operation.
He added that history should be written in a way that excludes Gaza’s victims, later qualifying his remarks by downplaying Palestinian civilian casualties as an inevitable feature of war.
“There are civilian casualties in every war that’s ever been fought. But the victims were the people of the nation-state of Israel.”
Pompeo claimed that Israel was the true victim, while labeling Iran and Hamas as the aggressors, and urged supporters to actively pass this narrative on to children and grandchildren.
His remarks are consistent with his past rhetoric on Gaza, including his November 2023 rejection of Gaza ceasefire and his call for the “complete annihilation of Hamas.”
Since October 2023, Israel’s genocide on Gaza has killed more than 70,000 Palestinians and wounded at least 170,000, the majority of them women and children.
The war has also killed hundreds of journalists, medical workers, and UN staff, drawing a genocidal case at ICC and violations of international law.
