DaysofPal- Hamas has called for immediate international intervention following a joint statement issued by the United Nations and more than 200 humanitarian organizations, warning that Israeli restrictions are threatening the continuity of humanitarian operations in the Gaza Strip.
In a press statement, the movement said the UN warning about Israel’s potential move to revoke the registration of dozens of international relief organizations “confirms the grave danger of the occupation’s approach in deepening the humanitarian catastrophe” in Gaza.
Hamas stressed that these policies require swift and decisive global action to mobilize all possible means to provide relief to Palestinians in the besieged enclave.
The movement accused the Israeli government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, of systematically tightening the blockade and weaponizing humanitarian aid, citing testimony from the United Nations and international organizations.
Hamas said that these practices deprive civilians of their most basic rights and represent an extension of Israel’s ongoing war against the Palestinian people through multiple methods.
Hamas further stated that such measures constitute a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement reached under the sponsorship of US President Donald Trump. It said hundreds of field violations have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians, either by Israeli military fire or as a consequence of obstructing relief efforts and shelter for displaced civilians.
In a separate statement, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said the deaths of children from extreme cold in Gaza amount to a crime committed by Israel through its prevention of reconstruction efforts and the continuation of the blockade. He added that repeated appeals to allow proper shelter and begin reconstruction have failed to prompt meaningful international action, leaving Gaza’s children to die, previously from bombardment, and now from freezing temperatures.
Qassem urged the international community to take serious and immediate steps to save Gaza before the situation deteriorates further and mass fatalities occur.
He specifically called on the US administration and President Donald Trump to pressure Israel to fulfill its obligations under the ceasefire, particularly on humanitarian and relief issues, and to ensure that international humanitarian organizations can operate without obstruction in Gaza.
Earlier on the same day, Nasser Medical Complex announced the death of a child due to severe cold in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, adding to a growing number of similar deaths recorded in recent days amid harsh weather conditions.
Over the past week, Gaza has been hit by two severe winter depressions that resulted in the deaths of 16 Palestinians, further worsening living conditions in a territory already devastated by Israel’s war. The conflict has killed more than 70,000 people, wounded over 171,000 others, and destroyed approximately 90 percent of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure.
Heavy rainfall has also flooded an estimated 53,000 tents that fail to meet minimum humanitarian safety standards, while border crossings remain closed and the entry of shelter and emergency materials is blocked. The crisis continues to intensify due to Israel’s failure to comply with the ceasefire agreement and humanitarian protocol, particularly provisions related to the entry of shelter supplies, tents, and mobile housing units.
