DayofPal— Turkey has issued arrest warrants for Israeli war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu and several top Israeli officials on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity linked to Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Friday that 37 senior Israeli figures are named in the warrants, including Defence Minister Israel Katz, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, and Israel’s army chief, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir.
According to prosecutors, the officials are accused of orchestrating systematic attacks on civilians, hospitals, and essential infrastructure in Gaza since October 2023.
The statement cited high-profile incidents such as the bombing of Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, the destruction of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, and the killing of six-year-old Hind Rajab, who was struck by Israeli fire while trapped in a car with her family.
The investigation also includes Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian mission carrying aid to Gaza, and abduction of its crews.
Activists aboard the flotilla provided testimonies and forensic evidence that contributed to the case.
Israel’s government condemned Turkey’s move. Foreign Minister Gideon Saar called the warrants “a contemptible publicity stunt by [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan,” rejecting all accusations.
Former Israeli foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman said the decision “clearly shows why Turkey should play no role in Gaza—directly or indirectly.”
Turkey, which has joined South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice, has expressed interest in taking part in a post-war stabilization mission for Gaza. However, Israeli leaders have opposed any Turkish involvement in such an initiative.
The prosecutor’s office said its investigation would continue “with precision and in all aspects.”
