DayofPal—The Government Media Office in Gaza has accused the Israeli army of spreading false information by publishing the names and photos of living people as if they were killed in the recent Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip.
In a statement released Wednesday, the office said the move was part of an effort to mislead the public and cover up ongoing crimes against civilians.
According to the statement, the Israeli army circulated a list containing 26 names and 21 photos, claiming they belonged to Palestinians killed in recent attacks that breached the ceasefire deal.
However, an investigation by the media office revealed serious inaccuracies in the list, including three non-Arab and incorrect names, fabricated identities not found in Palestinian records, and repeated names that had been manipulated to appear as different people.
The office added that four of the listed people were confirmed to be alive and had not been in the targeted areas, while several other names belonged to victims who were killed at different times and locations.
The Gaza Media Office described the Israeli claims as part of a “systematic disinformation campaign” aimed at distorting facts and “demonizing the victims.”
It accused Israel of continuing to commit “horrific massacres” against civilians, reporting that within the past 12 hours alone, 109 Palestinians had been killed, including 52 children, 23 women, four elderly people, and seven individuals with disabilities.
The statement characterized these acts as “ongoing genocidal crimes targeting defenseless civilians.”
The office further stated that Israel was repeatedly violating the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law, proportionality and distinction, by employing excessive force and targeting residential areas, hospitals, schools, and shelters under the pretext of “self-defense.”
These justifications, it said, were “baseless and lack any legal foundation.”
Calling the attacks part of a “consistent policy of mass killing rather than temporary reactions,” the Gaza Media Office held Israel and its supporting countries fully responsible for the continuation of genocidal acts in Gaza.
The statement urged U.S. President Donald Trump, countries guaranteeing the ceasefire agreement, mediators, the international community, and the United Nations Security Council to “assume their legal and moral responsibilities” by compelling Israel to immediately halt its offensive, protect civilians, and end the ongoing massacres against the Palestinian people.
