DaysofPal – Hussam Badran, head of the National Relations Office of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and member of its Political Bureau, reaffirmed the movement’s commitment to a unified Palestinian national position in response to regional and international challenges, including former U.S. President Donald Trump’s controversial plan for Gaza and the broader Palestinian issue.

Speaking on Thursday, Badran said Hamas approached Trump’s proposal from a comprehensive national perspective, emphasizing that only unity among Palestinian factions can safeguard national interests.

“Since the announcement of the Trump plan, we have communicated with national factions and figures, highlighting the risks and the necessity of joint national action,” he said.

He noted that Hamas has held a series of meetings, consultations, and exchanges with factions, leaders, and independent figures to forge a collective national response. The movement’s final position, he explained, was the result of extensive consultations that also continued during negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh.

Badran underlined Hamas’s commitment to participate in a comprehensive national dialogue in Cairo aimed at finalizing details of the agreement and outlining a unified plan for the next phase.

“Any Palestinian decision must express a unified position and include all factions, elites, and the Palestinian people,” he stressed.

Reflecting on October 7, 2023, Badran described it as a turning point in the struggle against the Israeli occupation, saying it reaffirmed the Palestinian people’s right to life, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent state on their occupied land.

“What has been achieved today,” he continued, “is the result of the steadfastness of our people in Gaza and the sacrifices of men, women, children, and the elderly. It is also due to the courage of the resistance fighters and their leaders, both the martyrs and the living, who have set a global example of devotion to land and identity.”

Badran emphasized that Palestinian unity remains the cornerstone of political and national achievement: “The more the position expresses Palestinian unity, the stronger and more capable it will be of achieving national aspirations.”

He concluded with a message of resilience and hope: “What has been achieved today and what can be achieved in the future is thanks to the steadfastness of our people and the sacrifices of the resistance. Hope remains alive for us to shape our future with our own hands and achieve a free and just Palestinian state on all of our occupied land.”
