DaysofPal – The Hamas Movement announced on Thursday that it has submitted the names of Palestinian prisoners to be released in exchange for Israeli captives, in line with the terms outlined in the newly agreed ceasefire deal over the Gaza Strip.
In a press statement, senior Hamas official Zaher Jabarin said the movement is “awaiting final agreement on the names of the Palestinian prisoners as a prelude to announcing them publicly through the Asra Media Office once all related procedures and understandings are finalized.”
Jabarin reaffirmed that the prisoners’ issue remains a central cause for Hamas, emphasizing that the movement “will not rest until every last prisoner attains freedom.”
Earlier, Hamas confirmed that an agreement had been reached to end the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, ensure the withdrawal of Israeli forces, facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid, and implement a prisoner exchange.
In its official statement, Hamas expressed its appreciation for the mediation efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, crediting them for helping reach the deal. The movement also acknowledged the role of US President Donald Trump, commending what it described as his efforts to “permanently halt the war and ensure the occupation’s complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.”
Hamas called on President Trump and the guarantor states to ensure Israel’s full compliance with the agreement and prevent any delays or attempts to evade its commitments.
President Trump, for his part, declared that both Israel and Hamas had approved the initial stage of his suggested peace plan for Gaza. Writing on his Truth Social platform, he said the approval of the plan by both parties means that “all captives will be released very soon.”
He added that Israel will withdraw its forces to an agreed-upon line as “a first step toward achieving a strong and lasting peace.”
