Gaza City – Hamas has strongly rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address at the United Nations General Assembly, dismissing it as a collection of “lies and hypocrisy.”
In a statement, the group said the speech — “boycotted by the majority of delegations” — was delivered by a man wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes.
Hamas accused Netanyahu of attempting to lecture the world about justice while overseeing daily crimes in Gaza, including mass killings, forced displacement, and starvation. The group stressed that international reports and eyewitness accounts contradict his denials of such abuses.
The statement also charged Netanyahu with sabotaging ongoing ceasefire negotiations in Qatar. It described his remarks on Israeli captives as hypocritical, given that Israel continues its devastating assault on Gaza.
Hamas further rejected Netanyahu’s claim of plans to impose control over Gaza or to install what it called a “puppet authority,” dismissing such ambitions as “an illusion.”
Concluding its statement, Hamas reaffirmed that the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital remains “an inalienable right” that Israel cannot erase.
