DaysofPal- A senior Hamas official has vowed that the Israeli policy of assassinations will not deter the movement from continuing its resistance, following the failed Israeli assassination attempt to target the Hamas negotiating delegation in Doha.
Abdel Rahman Shadid, a leading figure in the Islamic Resistance Movement, said on Wednesday that the Israeli strike in the Qatari capital had not only failed to eliminate the delegation but was also intended to derail the broader negotiation process.
“The attempt reflects Netanyahu’s disregard for the lives of Israeli captives in Gaza,” Shadid said, describing the operation as part of a series of repeated Israeli failures.
He added that the U.S. and President Donald Trump bear responsibility as “partners in the crime” for enabling the Israeli crimes.
Shadid rejected any notion of disarming Hamas, insisting that such proposals are “not up for discussion.”
“We will not agree to any proposal to disarm the resistance as long as the occupation remains on our land,” he declared.
“This is our legitimate right under international law and divine laws.” He added.
Moreover, he stressed that Hamas’s weapons would remain tied to the presence of the Israeli occupation and that after its end, they would form part of a future Palestinian army.
The Hamas leader reaffirmed the movement’s openness to initiatives aimed at ending the war, provided they include the five core principles: a permanent ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal, reconstruction, humanitarian relief, and the release of prisoners.
Hamas described the assassination attempt as a “heinous crime and a blatant act of aggression against Qatari sovereignty,” accusing the Israeli occupation of deliberately undermining efforts to reach an agreement.
Shadid concluded that the failure of the attack represented a “double defeat” for the Israeli occupation and underscored Hamas’s determination to resist efforts to eliminate its leadership or disrupt negotiations.
