DaysofPal- Hospitals in Gaza City are facing enormous pressure as the number of dead and wounded continues to rise due to ongoing Israeli bombardment, with functioning facilities such as al-Shifa and al-Ahli Arab Hospital overwhelmed by the nonstop influx of patients in urgent need of life-saving treatment amid the ongoing Israeli genocide.
Doctors confirm that operating rooms and emergency departments are working far beyond capacity. At the same time, dozens of casualties are being brought in daily under extremely difficult conditions, with volunteers sometimes forced to carry victims on their shoulders due to the lack of stretchers.
According to international medical reports, 94% of Gaza’s health facilities have been damaged or destroyed by direct targeting. At the same time, the World Health Organization has recorded more than 516 attacks on ambulances and medical facilities, resulting in the death and injury of hundreds of healthcare workers.
At Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, mass casualty incidents, where the number of victims exceeds the hospital’s capacity, have become almost daily events, worsening the spread of infection and increasing mortality rates.
Meanwhile, al-Ahli Arab Hospital was hit by a missile strike that destroyed its intensive care and surgical units, forcing medical teams to set up field tents to treat patients.
Doctors describe the health situation in the Strip as a total collapse of the medical system, with surgical capacity reduced by up to 80%, even as the flow of casualties continues amid intensified airstrikes.
These scenes highlight the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe faced by civilians in Gaza, who continue to bear the heaviest cost of the ongoing Israeli genocide, now approaching two years.
