DaysofPal- Palestinian Medics in Gaza said on 31 August 2025 that 7 more people in Gaza City have died due to famine and malnutrition over the past 24 hours amid the ongoing Israeli blockade and genocide.
The ministry stated that the total number of malnutrition-related victims in the Gaza Strip has risen to 339, including 125 children, since the start of the Israeli genocide and blockade on Gaza.
It added that since the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) officially declared famine in Gaza, 61 famine-related deaths have been recorded, including 9 children.
Earlier today, two Palestinian women died as a result of severe starvation and malnutrition amid the continued Israeli suffocating blockade and ongoing aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip.
Medical sources at Al-Shifa Hospital reported the death of the girl Rahaf Al-Balawi, after her health deteriorated rapidly due to severe food shortages and lack of medical care.
Meanwhile, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza announced the death of the young woman Shaimaa Al-Ashram (21 years old) for the same reasons.
This incident comes at a critical time, as the Israeli-imposed blockade on the Gaza Strip has continued for more than 695 days, causing severe shortages of food and medical supplies. Israeli occupation forces have closed all crossings into Gaza since 2 March 2025, preventing humanitarian aid from entering.
Reports indicate that Israeli forces prevent starving civilians from accessing food, targeting them when they attempt to collect aid from the aid trucks at centers of the Gaza Humanitarian Organization, and allowing humanitarian supplies to be looted.
Therefore, vulnerable groups such as widows, orphans, the elderly, and the wounded are the hardest hit, facing extreme risk of death due to a lack of basic necessities.
In a related development, five U.S. senators, led by Robin Gallego of Arizona, called for a “massive increase” in baby formula and humanitarian aid to Gaza due to the widespread famine and child deaths from hunger.
They noted that humanitarian aid to Gaza has dramatically decreased since the Israeli occupation replaced the United Nations aid framework with the Gaza Humanitarian Organization, which withholds baby formula and operates under strict military conditions.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, with rising deaths from hunger and malnutrition, requiring urgent international intervention to provide aid and alleviate the suffering of the civilian population.
