DaysofPal- Amnesty International said that “Israel” is deliberately implementing a starvation policy in the Gaza Strip, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
According to the organization, new testimonies provide damning evidence that Israeli-made starvation of Palestinians in Gaza is systematic and intentional, and it aims to destroy the health and fabric of Palestinian society.
Amnesty further stated that the testimonies about starvation represent “a stark indictment of the international system,” which for decades has granted Israel near-total impunity.
The organization stressed that these Israeli violations are worsening the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. It reiterated its demand for the immediate and unconditional lifting of the blockade and the imposition of a permanent ceasefire to end the suffering of Palestinian civilians.
In the same context, human rights groups said that the Israeli occupation is carrying out a policy of “engineered starvation” in Gaza.
This policy restricts aid deliveries to few trucks, which are directed to remote distribution points far from urban centers.
This has forced tens of thousands of desperate people to converge on extremely limited food supplies, creating bloody scenes reminiscent of “zombies” as the hungry fight frantically for a piece of bread before Israeli soldiers open fire, killing and wounding hundreds each time.
Witnesses and aid workers reported that Israeli forces deliberately targeted civilians trying to reach the trucks, leaving aid effectively accessible only to those strong enough to push through the crowds. Vulnerable groups, widows, orphans, the elderly, the wounded, and medical staff, are largely excluded, left to die of hunger in silence.
The story of Marah Abu Zuhri illustrates this grim reality. A young woman debilitated by months of deprivation in Gaza, she was unable to regain her health even after reaching a European hospital.
