DaysofPal – Israeli occupation forces continued their campaign of bombardment, demolitions, and forced displacement in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, killing at least 20 Palestinians, including seven who were waiting for humanitarian aid.
A medical source at the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City said seven Palestinians were killed and several more wounded after an Israeli drone attack struck the hospital’s northern vicinity.
In the south, Nasser Hospital reported that Israeli forces opened fire near the Morag axis, killing seven Palestinians and injuring dozens as they waited for aid. Four others were killed in Khan Yunis when an Israeli strike hit a tent sheltering displaced families near the Taiba Towers.
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital confirmed that a drone targeted a gathering in the al-Bassa area, west of Deir al-Balah, killing one Palestinian and injuring several others. In other news, a young man was shot dead close to the Netzarim axis in central Gaza.
The same hospital also reported that 40-year-old Rami Saadi al-Helou was killed in an Israeli airstrike on his home in Nuseirat refugee camp.
Israel’s offensive across Gaza grew more intense at the same time as the violence. Eyewitnesses reported three bombing operations in the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, as well as two more in the northwest of Khan Yunis.
The Gaza Health Ministry said 11 Palestinians died from starvation and malnutrition in just one day, bringing the total number of such deaths to 251, including 108 children.
This relentless wave of mass killings comes amid Israel’s push to reassert control over the Strip. On August 8, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet approved a plan to reoccupy Gaza, starting with Gaza City gradually.
As part of that plan, Israeli forces launched a major assault on the Zeitoun neighborhood on August 11, using booby-trapped robots, artillery, indiscriminate gunfire, and mass demolitions to drive residents from their homes.
