DayofPal – Two Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) rescue workers were wounded in separate Israeli attacks in Gaza while responding to emergency calls, as relentless bombardment continues to inflict heavy civilian casualties.
On Monday evening, PRCS paramedic Diaa Mohammed Suleiman Al-Bayouk was injured in the right shoulder by shrapnel from an artillery shell while aiding victims of an Israeli strike on a house near the University College, southwest of Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood. He was rushed to Al-Quds Hospital, where his condition was reported as stable.
In a separate incident, Civil Defense paramedic Noah Al-Shaghnobi was injured while trying to evacuate the dead and wounded following Israeli shelling of civilian homes in the Al-Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City.
The attacks on emergency responders come amid some of the deadliest days of the war. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that hospitals received 69 dead and 362 wounded in the past 24 hours alone.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli assaults have killed at least 61,499 Palestinians and injured 153,575, with strikes hitting homes, tents sheltering displaced families, and gatherings of people waiting for aid.
Among the latest casualties, three Palestinians were killed when a house south of Gaza City was shelled, and two others, including a child, were killed when Israeli forces opened fire on people waiting for aid near the Zikim checkpoint in the northwest of the Strip. Al-Saraya Hospital later received around 30 wounded aid seekers from the same area.
The humanitarian crisis is worsening, with famine now claiming 222 lives, including 101 children. In one attack on Gaza City’s Zeitoun area, Al-Quds Hospital received seven dead and 41 wounded, most of them children. Six Palestinians were killed in a strike near an aid center north of Rafah, according to Nasser Medical Complex.
