DaysofPal — The United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) says that only six out of its 22 health centers in Gaza remain operational, as relentless Israeli airstrikes and a tightening blockade continue to cripple the territory’s health system.
In a statement posted on X, UNRWA warned that the few remaining facilities are struggling to function due to the “constant bombardment” and an acute shortage of essential medical supplies.
The agency also said it has set up 37 emergency medical points across the Strip, but these stopgap measures are not enough to meet soaring medical needs.
“Unhindered access to deliver lifesaving aid including medicine and basic medical supplies is urgently needed,” the agency said, urging the international community to act.
The health crisis comes amid a total blockade imposed by Israel on Gaza since March 2, effectively cutting off food, fuel, and humanitarian aid to the enclave.
With medical resources dwindling and only a fraction of health infrastructure intact, humanitarian agencies are warning that Gaza’s healthcare system is on the verge of collapse.
