Global Coalition of 32 Countries Plans Historic March to Gaza on Foot
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

DayofPal– An international coalition of solidarity movements, trade unions, and human rights organizations from over 32 countries has announced the launch of the “Global March to Gaza.

In a bold and unprecedented move, the Global March to Gaza aims to reach the besieged Palestinian enclave on foot in response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

The coalition, which brings together more than 10,000 participants from diverse backgrounds, mostly from Western countries, intends to raise global awareness and directly challenge the ongoing Israeli blockade that has gripped Gaza for nearly 20 months.

The initiative is being spearheaded by the International Coalition Against Israeli Occupation, led by Seif Abu Keshk, who described the march as a collective call to the “genocide” of the Palestinian people.

According to the organizers, the march has five core objectives. The first goal is to end Genocide in Gaza, and halt what organizers describe as systematic and deliberate efforts to starve and kill Palestinian civilians, particularly children, by drawing global attention and applying pressure on governments and international bodies.

The second goals is the immediate Delivery of Aid. With thousands of aid trucks stalled at the Gaza crossings, participants are demanding the immediate and unrestricted entry of food, medicine, and essential supplies into Gaza via the Rafah crossing.

A central goal is also to break the Israeli-imposed blockade on Gaza and call for the establishment of a permanent humanitarian corridor to ensure the flow of life-saving supplies without political interference.

In addition, the initiative seeks to rally civil society across the world to confront the complicity and silence of many governments regarding Israeli actions, and to pressure lawmakers to take firm stances in support of Palestinian rights.

Organizers, furthermore, are urging international legal bodies to investigate and prosecute those responsible for war crimes and violations of international law committed against the Palestinian population.

German lawyer Melanie Schweitzer emphasized that the march is entirely peaceful and civilian-led, inspired by historic solidarity movements.

“This is a civilian action rooted in global humanitarian concern. No government is funding or directing this effort—participants are volunteers covering their own costs,” she said.

The march also aims to represent the voice of global civil society through the participation of trade unions, medical organizations, humanitarian groups, and citizens from all walks of life. Organizers hope to send a unified message of peace, justice, and global solidarity.

Given the multinational nature of the initiative, march planners have divided participants into regional groups to facilitate coordination and overcome logistical challenges related to language, culture, and geography.

All groups are scheduled to converge in Cairo starting June 12, from where they will proceed toward the Rafah border crossing into Gaza.

Edward Camacho, a representative of the Catalan Alternative Union (IAC), noted that participants are responsible for their own expenses and that only minimal logistical support will be available. “We are committed to making this happen, regardless of the hardships,” he stated.

As the world watches, the Global March to Gaza is poised to become one of the most significant acts of international civilian solidarity in recent history, shining a spotlight on the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and calling for immediate global action.
