DaysofPal- The Hamas Movement has issued an urgent appeal to the Arab League, calling for immediate action to halt what it describes as a “full-blown genocide” in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In a statement published on Telegram, Hamas urged participants at the ongoing Arab League summit in Baghdad to “impose urgent sanctions” on Israel over its ongoing military campaign.
“The Israeli occupation continues to perpetrate massacres against civilians, targeting residential neighborhoods and shelters, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries,” the statement read.
Hamas highlighted the dire humanitarian situation, pointing to a “stifling blockade” and the complete cutoff of aid, leaving over 2.5 million Palestinians in Gaza facing catastrophic conditions.
The group accused the international community of standing “helpless” as the crisis unfolded, describing the situation as a “slaughter” carried out in plain sight.
Hamas called on Arab leaders to take decisive measures to pressure Israel into halting its military operations and lifting the blockade on the Strip.
The statement comes amid escalating tensions as Israel’s war on Gaza enters its second year, with widespread reports of civilian casualties, destruction of infrastructure, and severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies.
Humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned of a man-made famine and a health catastrophe in Gaza, exacerbated by Israel’s restrictions on aid deliveries.
Hamas’ plea underscores growing frustration among Palestinian factions and their allies over the perceived inaction of regional and global powers in addressing the crisis.
The Baghdad summit presents a critical opportunity for Arab nations to unite and push for concrete steps to alleviate the suffering in Gaza and hold Israel accountable for its actions.
As the death toll in Gaza continues to rise, the international community faces mounting pressure to intervene and prevent further loss of life in what many are calling one of the most severe humanitarian disasters in modern history.
