DayofPal– Israeli army approved Saturday plans to withdraw its troops from the Gaza Strip, including from the Natzarim carridor which separates north Gaza from the south, after reported advancements in prisoner exchange talks with Hamas in Qatar, according to Haaretz.
The newspaper said the army authorized several plans and examined options for the swift withdrawal of soldiers from Gaza in response to progress in the talks amid reports that the army is ready to dismantle troops’ infrastructure in the area.
Despite having established extensive infrastructure and positions in the region, the military said it could “evacuate” forces, emphasizing its readiness to implement any agreement reached by the government and the Palestinian resistance group, including a rapid troop pullback from Gaza.
According to Wall Street Journal, The Israeli army has established two military bases in the Nitzarim corridor, consisting of mobile shelters with size of trailers equipped with water, electricity poles, cellular communication towers, and a Jewish synagogue.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office revealed earlier that a delegation, led by Mossad chief David Barnea and Ronen Bar, chief of the Shin Bet internal security service, will travel to Qatar to continue negotiations.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met before the announcement with Steve Witkoff — US President-elect Donald Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East.
Yedioth Ahronoth also reported, that 90% of the details of a prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas have been finalized, citing political sources.
The newspaper reports quoting a senior Israeli official that ceasefire talks are under way for the release of 33 Israeli captives by Hamas in exchange for the release of a number of Palestinian prisoners, who will be determined after knowing the number of living and dead captives.
Israeli forces had occupied the four-mile stretch of Netzarim corridor since the first month of the war, to prevent displaced Gaza residents from returning north, causing a humanitarian and demographic crisis.
An Israeli military and New York Times said the Natzarim road has slowly grown into an 18-square-mile block of territory controlled by Israeli forces.
At Natzarim checkpoint, the Israeli army has used disturbing techniques to intimidate, lure and kill civilians in cold blood after marking thousands as suspects for assassination using Al tools like Lavander.
Previously, “The Intercept” website accused ‘Israel’ of using Google software for mass surveillance to set a hit list of assassination against Gazans.
