DayofPal– After its annihilation of Kamal Adwan hospital this week, the Israeli occupation army has attacked the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, on Friday, repeating the same scenario it used in Kamal Adwan and Al-Shifa hospitals.
Amid relentless gunfire, the forces ordered patients, medical staff, and everyone inside to evacuate immediately, despite the majority being women, children, and critically injured patients.
Eyewitnesses described a harrowing scene as the hospital’s oxygen and electricity systems were deliberately destroyed by the ay, leaving the facility incapable of providing care. Medical supplies had already dwindled to critical levels, placing countless patients in imminent danger.
Hamas condemned the attack on the Indonesian Hospital as “an extension of Israel’s genocide and forced displacement plans against Palestinians.”
The group thereby called on the international community, the World Health Organization, and the Red Cross to act immediately.
The Indonesian Hospital had become a refuge for those displaced from the nearby Kamal Adwan Hospital, which Israeli forces had burned, destroyed and abducted its medics just days earlier. Survivors who weren’t detained were forced to walk through the devastation to seek safety—only to find themselves under siege once again in the Indonesian hospital.
Israeli forces continued bulldozing the area around the Indonesian hospital, destroying infrastructure and further isolating the region.
Last Friday, Israeli forces set on fire the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya, one of the largest and lifeline medical facilities in northern Gaza Strip, which served over 400,000 residents. Israeli occupation soldiers forced patients, medical staff, and journalists out of the hospital premises under heavy gunfire and shelling.
The army also kidnapped the hospital’s director, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, whose fate remained unknown at notorious Sde Teiman prison.
Since October 5, 2024, Israeli forces have intensified their assault on northern Gaza by bombing hospitals, blocking food, water, and medical supplies, and targeting civilians.
The ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza has turned the Strip into a landscape of destruction. The latest figures from Gaza’s Ministry of Health report 45,581 deaths, 108,438 injuries, and over 11,000 missing persons. The constant attacks have caused a dire humanitarian situation with Israel’s atrocities continuing under US full support and global inaction.
