Since Saturday evening, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have relentlessly launched more attacks on the barely functioning Kamal Adwan Hospital in besieged North Gaza, after ordering the medical staff and people inside and near the facility to evacuate.
IOF have been ramping up its siege on the Kamal Adwan Hospital, attacking it with tanks and quadcopters, raising fears the largest healthcare facility in northern Gaza would be forced to halt its operations.
According to medical sources, the Israeli forces have been bombing the hospital with shells and artillery, while snipers have targeted various hospital departments.
The attacks have led to severe damage to hospital infrastructure, and communication with the medical team inside has been severed.
In response, medical staff have huddled together in a small, protected area of the hospital, seeking shelter from the continuous barrage of explosions and gunfire.
For nearly two months, the hospital has been under tight siege by Israeli forces, preventing the delivery of medicine, food, medical teams, and emergency supplies.
The blockade has exacerbated an already dire humanitarian situation, leaving the hospital with limited resources to treat the injured and sick. Daily airstrikes have caused multiple fatalities and injuries among both patients and medical personnel in the vicinity.
The hospital has become a last refuge for those injured or critically ill in Beit Lahia and surrounding areas. Despite the perilous conditions, the small medical team—consisting of only a handful of doctors and nurses—continues to provide emergency care under life-threatening circumstances.
Kamal Adwan Hospital is considered the largest medical facility in northern Gaza, serving a population of over 400,000 people. Today, it operates under constant threat, with little to no medical supplies and significant damage to its facilities due to ongoing Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling.
Israel, flouting a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire, has faced international condemnation amid its continued brutal offensive on Gaza since last October.
Since then, Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza has killed at least 45,259 Palestinians and wounded 107,627 others including women and children.
Following 440 days into the Israeli war, vast tracts of Gaza lie in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water, and medicine.
