DaysofPal—For over 440 days, Gaza has endured relentless attacks and a suffocating siege, yet the spirit of its people remains unbroken.
Israel’s ongoing assault, marked by a campaign of extermination, has targeted Palestinians of all ages with cold-blooded precision, employing hunger and deprivation as weapons of war in a bid to crush their resilience.
Genocide in Plain Sight
Despite international condemnation, including a unanimous United Nations call for an immediate halt to the violence, Israel continues its campaign unabated, shielded by unwavering U.S. support.
Writer and researcher Hamid Ashour argues that the devastation in Gaza is no coincidence but a calculated strategy, evident in the dire conditions across the Strip.
“Hundreds of trucks are waiting at crossings, yet only a fraction are allowed in—far below the 400 daily trucks required to sustain Gaza’s population, according to U.N. estimates,” Ashour said.
City on the Brink
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached catastrophic levels. The death toll has surpassed 45,000, with over 110,000 injured and more than 10,000 still missing. Yet, Gaza’s spirit remains unyielding.
Israel’s deliberate policy of starvation, compounded by the destruction of the agricultural sector, has left markets barren and families struggling to survive on canned goods.
Flour is a rare commodity, with a single bag costing nearly $250, and meat, vegetables, and fruits have disappeared entirely.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) reports that more than two-thirds of Gaza’s agricultural land has been destroyed. Orchards, crops, and greenhouses lie in ruins, and 95% of livestock have perished.
FAO Deputy Director-General Beth Beaudoin warned, “The scale of damage is unprecedented, raising critical concerns about Gaza’s food production capabilities. Food aid alone cannot meet the daily needs of its residents.”
Psychological Siege
Beyond physical destruction, Gaza’s people are enduring a psychological war. Journalist Abdul Rahman Younis describes the situation as a modern-day tragedy, where an entire population is being systematically erased before the world’s eyes.
“Israel’s campaign is designed not only to kill and starve but to obliterate the collective consciousness of Gaza’s people,” Younis said.
“They aim to break their spirit and force them to turn against the resistance. But this strategy has failed. Even in the face of unimaginable horror, the people remain steadfast.”
Calls for Justice
Hamid Ashour insists that Gaza’s survival demands more than emergency aid. He calls on international organizations to break their silence and act decisively against the atrocities. “It’s inconceivable that people are dying from both bombardment and starvation. The world cannot continue to stand by in the face of such injustice,” he said.
Despite the relentless bombardment and suffocating siege, Gaza remains a beacon of unyielding resistance. Amid the rubble, stories of heroism and resilience emerge daily. Gaza’s people refuse to succumb, sending a powerful message to the world: the will to live and resist is stronger than any force of oppression.
