DaysofPal- Aid to Gaza remains at near-historic lows due to the severe siege imposed by Israeli occupation forces, which has blocked the entry of food and medical supplies into the area affected by the ongoing Israeli war of extermination.
This has led to the rapid spread of famine among hundreds of thousands of displaced people.
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) only allow minimal quantities of aid to cross into the besieged Strip through international community organizations, with most of it being looted by gangs supported by the Israeli army.
A British newspaper Financial Times report revealed that by December 12, only about 1,700 trucks had entered Gaza, a number still far below pre-war levels.
This crisis continues to impact the people of Gaza, including aid workers themselves, who are also struggling to survive on minimal food.
This comes after the United States announced it would not halt arms transfers to “Israel,” citing “some progress” in enabling humanitarian aid to reach the devastated sector.
Humanitarian aid officials have reported that the situation has worsened, with looting blocking supplies from the main aid access point. Additionally, occupation forces have killed Palestinians who were guarding convoys against theft.
On Thursday morning, Israeli occupation forces targeted aid security teams in the buffer zone between Rafah and Khan Younis, killing 13 aid workers who were preparing to secure several trucks coming through the Salah al-Din/Philadelphi corridor.
According to the Financial Times, “Israel” regularly prevents or delays humanitarian missions from reaching Gaza and obstructs all attempts by the United Nations to deliver aid to the besieged north between November 13 and December 10.
“It is not enough for Israel to drop aid at the border and open just one gate,” said Bushra Khalidi, Oxfam’s policy officer.
“They need to open all land routes at once and ensure protection for an unrestricted aid response inside Gaza,” she added.
Ismail Thawabteh, the director of the government media office in the Gaza Strip, noted that 46 trucks have entered the Strip since Wednesday.
These include four water trucks, twelve trucks loaded with sugar, four trucks of detergents, six gas trucks, six trucks of flour, three trucks of rice and canned food, seven trucks of clothing and bedsheets, and four trucks for the World Central Kitchen.
However, several other trucks have been stolen, and a full estimate is yet to be determined.
Al-Thawabteh stated in media comments on Thursday that the Israeli occupation forces have targeted 722 personnel working in aid security in the Strip since the start of the genocide on October 7, 2023.
Along with the bloody Israeli war, the IOF troops have deliberately spread chaos and fueled anarchy by targeting police personnel and their headquarters, as well as those responsible for distributing aid from the popular committees formed from all segments of society, aiming to thwart efforts in Gaza.
