DaysofPal- Hamas political bureau member Basem Naim has stated that “the next day following the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip will be a Palestinian day par excellence,” reaffirming the Movement’s unwavering stance on the matter.
In a statement on Monday, Naim emphasized Hamas’s commitment to the people of Gaza, vowing to continue supporting them until their suffering ends.
He stated that the Egyptian leadership is keen on forming a Palestinian leadership body to manage the affairs of the Gaza Strip after the war ends, a step welcomed by Palestinian factions.
“We were hoping and striving to reach an agreement, under Egyptian sponsorship, with the Fatah Movement and other factions,” Naim said, stressing the importance of having a Palestinian national consensus in order to stop the Israeli aggression against Gaza.
Naim said that Fatah’s rejection of this agreement was shocking to all the Palestinian factions. He suggested that those opposing the formation of a national body aim to impose Mohamed Mustafa’s government and hinder efforts to achieve freedom for Palestinians and halt the violence against them.
The Hamas official also underscored the urgency of prioritizing national unity over partisan interests, particularly in light of Israeli actions in the West Bank. He called for collective efforts to serve the national cause.
On Sunday, senior Fatah official Abdullah Abdullah publicly rejected an Egyptian proposal for forming a committee to support Gaza, despite initial approval from Fatah representatives during recent meetings with Hamas in Cairo. This proposal was introduced by Egyptian mediators during intensive discussions between Hamas and Fatah officials in Cairo.
