DaysofPal- In their ongoing efforts to evacuate hospitals in northern Gaza, Israeli occupation forces have reportedly used Palestinians as human shields, according to the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor.
The Monitor’s field teams said that Israeli soldiers forced Palestinian detainees “to warn hospital staff that all displaced persons and companions of patients must leave the premises and head to areas controlled by Israeli forces”.
“Many were arrested upon arrival, while others were forced to flee to a checkpoint in the Civil Administration area and eventually to Gaza City,” also in the north, according to the monitor.
In a separate incident, the Palestinian Health Ministry released a video showing an Israeli air attack on an ambulance stationed near Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza.
The footage captured intense gunfire from Israeli forces hitting the ambulance, which was providing essential services in the region. The ministry confirmed that the attack occurred yesterday and highlighted the increasing difficulty of operating ambulances in northern Gaza, as many have been rendered inoperable due to repeated airstrikes and severe fuel shortages, as reported by the Gaza Civil Defense.
Amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the Gaza Health Ministry on Friday urged the international community to step in and stop Israel’s attack on the health sector. The ministry issued a statement urging the International Committee of the Red Cross, human rights organizations, and other international organizations to act immediately to halt the heinous Israeli assault on medical facilities, their employees, patients, and the injured.
The statement denounced the Israeli army’s destruction of hospitals and the deaths of those who are inside. Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza is the most recent location of a war crime, with Israeli forces committing violent acts both inside and outside the hospital. The ministry also emphasized that only 17 of Gaza’s 36 hospitals are still partially operational due to a severe lack of fuel, medications, and medical supplies.
Earlier on Friday, Israeli forces withdrew from Kamal Adwan Hospital after raiding it for several hours, during which they arrested medical staff and patients, and forcibly expelled others from the premises.
