Hamas, Palestinians Not Concerned About U.S. Elections’ Results: Osama Hamdan
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

DayofPal– Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan said that neither Hamas movement nor the Palestinian people are concerned about the outcome of the US election, but the movement hopes that at least the new president will listen to Americans who oppose Israeli occupation and the war in Gaza.

He described both previous and current US administrations as partners in supporting Israeli aggression against Palestinians, adding that regardless of who wins the US election, the situation in Gaza will not change.

Speaking at a press conference, Hamdan also called on the incoming U.S. administration to “heed the growing voices within American society rejecting Israeli aggression and to stop obstructing international efforts to condemn the occupation and recognize our people’s legitimate rights.”

The war on Gaza has shaken the U.S. election race between the two rivals, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, with the two having promised to end the war, bring Israeli captives back, and increase the influx of aid to the Strip.

For Gaza people, results of the U.S. election are not important compared to their 406 days of genocide, deeming a permanent ceasefire is a bedrock.

Saleh Shonnar, a displaced Palestinian in Deir Al-Balah, told Al-Jazeera that “The American elections will not affect the war in any way, and will not have an impact. It may affect the American voter but not Palestinians in Gaza. The Americans are a partner in the war on Gaza, and in the extermination of children, women and the elderly.”

Mustafa Abu Hamada, a displaced Palestinian in Deir Al-Balah told Al-Jazeera that “Biden spent four years and didn’t provide anything for the Palestinian people. He was promising a two-state solution, and in the end there is nothing. He was supporting Israeli society, and the only thing he talks about is the captives. What about the people who are dying? We ask the Americans, if Trump succeeds, to have mercy on the Palestinian people.”

On the other hand, Arab and Muslim leaders in U.S. state of Michigan have voiced their support for Trump as they believe he would achieve peace in the Middle East. Meanwhile, others in different states showed support to Kamal Harris.

Former U.S. President Barack Obama warned Muslim and Jewish voters about the potential victory of Republican candidate Donald Trump during a campaign rally supporting Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Obama criticized Trump’s record with religious minorities, saying: “You might be a Muslim or a Jew and feel sadness and anger over the ongoing bloodshed in the Middle East, and you might be worried about the rise in anti-Semitism. Why would you trust someone who imposed what is called the Muslim ban and exchanged pleasantries with Holocaust deniers?”

The former president also referred to Trump’s previous “racist” remarks against minorities, Black people, and Haitians, adding: “Is this the person who will look out for you?”
