DayofPal– Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a stark warning that Lebanon could endure “destruction and suffering akin to that experienced in Gaza.”
He further claimed that Israel has eliminated not only the successor to the slain Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah but also his successor’s successor.
In a video address aimed at the Lebanese populace on Tuesday, Netanyahu stated, “You have an opportunity to save Lebanon before it falls into the abyss of a long war that will lead to destruction and suffering like we see in Gaza.”
Netanyahu further asserted that Israeli forces had eliminated the successor to Hezbollah’s former leader, Hassan Nasrallah. However, the Israeli military later clarified that it could not verify the death of Hashem Safi Al-Din.
He also said Hezbollah is “weaker than it has been for many, many years”.
Nevertheless, Hezbollah has maintained its defiance in the face of three weeks of relentless Israeli bombardments and assaults, which, according to Lebanese officials, have resulted in over 1,400 fatalities and the displacement of approximately 1.2 million people.
Netanyahu’s ominous warning coincided with the Israeli military’s deployment of additional troops to Lebanon and its directive for residents in southern coastal regions and parts of Beirut’s southern suburbs to evacuate.
