DayofPal– UNRWA chief Filippo Lazzarini reported that at least 400,000 Palestinians remain trapped in northern Gaza, as the Israeli military issued fresh evacuation orders for residents amid intensified ground and aerial assaults.
Lazzarini said on X that “Israeli authorities are forcing people to flee again and again, especially from Jabalia Camp. Many are refusing because they know too well that no place anywhere in Gaza is safe.”
He also stated that the UN agency’s shelters and services are being compelled to close, some for the first time since the onset of the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
Israeli occupation forces are besieging the Jabalia refugee camp from multiple directions, advancing in various areas of northern Gaza for the third time during this ongoing genocide. This unprecedented military assault is marked by indiscriminate shelling and gunfire targeting anyone on the streets.
Jabalia has endured a relentless siege for five harrowing days. Outside, the streets are a deadly trap; anyone who dares to step beyond houses’ threshold faces the threat of Israeli bombs.
Within the homes, despair deepens as families are grapple with dwindling supplies of food and water, their hopes flickering like a candle in the wind.
Medical sources have reported that at least 120 Palestinians have been killed in northern Gaza since Israeli army started its ground invasion. Many of the casualties have been on the streets as Israeli soldiers obstruct ambulances way to them.
The situation is grim as Kamal Adwan Hospital, the Indonesian Hospital, and the al-Yemen Al-Saeed Hospital, the three main healthcare providers in northern Gaza, have been under a tight Israeli military siege for five days.
In Yemen Al-Saeed Hospital in Jabalia refugee camp, 15 Palestinians were killed and several others were injured following Israeli airstrikes that targeted the tents of displaced civilians who refused to leave their shelter, for “no place is safe in Gaza”.
The Israeli army has called on Palestinians in northern Gaza to flee to designated “safe zones” in southern and central Gaza as it begins a renewed ground offensive. However, no place in Gaza is safe for Palestinians, including the so-called “safe zones”.
“Israeli claims about the presence of safe zones in southern Gaza are lies as Israel commits crimes and massacres in all areas of the enclave,” Gaza ministry of interior said in a statement, calling on citizens in northern Gaza to ignore Israeli threats.
Israel has invaded Jabalia several times from the ground. The last operation took place in May, displacing tens of thousands of people, killing hundreds, and causing widespread destruction.
