Hamas movement has issued a strong condemnation on the series of pager blasts in Lebanon, saying it is a “crime that defies all laws”, holding the Israeli government fully responsible for the simultaneously attack.
In a statement commenting on the incident, Hamas said “This terrorist act is part of the Zionist enemy’s larger aggression on the region and the policy of bullying and arrogance adopted by the Netanyahu’s government, armed with American support that provides a cover for its fascist crimes.”
“We assert that this criminal escalation will only lead the terrorist occupying entity to further failure and defeat,” it added.
The movement also hailed Hezbollah’s “efforts and sacrifices” as it continues to back and support the Palestinian people since the start of the Israeli genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023.
“The crimes of the fascist occupation will not break our people’s will and their desire to join the resistance,” it concluded.
Nine people, including eight-year-old girl from the Bekaa Valley, were confirmed dead in a series of explosions that targeted pagers across Lebanon, Firas Al-Abyad, the minister of health, said.
At least other 2,750 people have been injured either in the face or arms and in some cases in the abdomen; more than 200 are in critical condition.
As Lebanon reels from a series of deadly pager explosions, Edward Snowden has weighed in, stating that the blasts were likely caused by “implanted explosives” rather than a cyber hack. Snowden explained, “Too many consistent, very serious injuries. If it were overheated batteries exploding, you’d expect many more small fires & misfires.”
