Israeli settlers from the Zohar colonial outpost cracked down Monday Sept.16th, 2024 on the Arab Al-Kaabneh Primary School in the Al-Ma’arajat region, northwest of Jericho, injuring at least seven students and teachers, including the principale, as reported by the Red Crescent.
Palestinian Bedouin Rights Organization Al-Baidar said that the settlers were armed with sticks and sharp objects when they stormed the school and went directly to tide up the school’s principal.
Hassan Mleihat, the organization’s supervisor, confirmed that the armed settlers cordoned off the school and prevented the students’ parents from accessing the premises to safely help their children.

The attack was subsequently succeeded by a series of arrests and raids carried out by Israeli forces that detained both the school’s staff and its principal.
According to local reports, the arrests were justified by a settler’s claim that one of the teachers had injured him as trying to fend off the settlers’ assaults.
Al-Ka’abneh: Epicenter for Settlers’ Assaults
This was the second attack on Arab Al-Kaabneh School since the academic year resumed just a week ago, Mleihat revealed.
In the first day back at school this September abd after the summer vacation, the jewish settlers also obstructed the students on their way to the same school, causing panic and fear among the children and prevented a day long of learning.
Al-Ka’abneh school has been in the crosschairs of settlers’ attacks for many years. At the onset of the war on last October, the settlers left bloodied dolls at the entrance of Al-Ka’abneh school, warning the Palestinains of a new major Nakba if they didn’t leave the entire area towards Jordan.
The dolls were covered in red paint, ostensibly to look like blood and scare young students.
“We will descend upon your heads with a great catastrophe soon. You have the last chance to escape to Jordan in an organised manner,” settlers’ leaflet said.
Another leaflet continued: “After that, we will destroy every enemy and forcefully expel you from our holy land … Load your bags immediately and leave wherever you came from. We are coming.”
Hassan Malihat from the Al-Baidar Organization for Defending Bedouin Rights said that settler groups have repeatedly attacked the community with the aim of displacing its residents and seizing their lands.
He added that “Settlers’ attacks on Al-Kaabneh Arabs are repeated, and they filed complaints with the Israeli police to no avail.”
Settlers’ Attacks Part of Major Scholasticide
The Palestinian Ministry of Education denounced the funded settlers’ attack on the school, which has been prone to majore attacks already waged on the Arab Bedouin near Jericho.
The Ministry has labelled it as another crime in the ongoing series of offences committed by the occupation and illegal settlers against educational institutions across the West Bank and Gaza.
Likewise, settlers from the Yitzhar settlement also set fire to a school in the West Bank village of Urif last Thursday morning and attempted to set fire to homes and a mosque as well, residents said.
Palestinain Ministry of Education said Israeli army has killed 9241 students and injured 15182 in both Gaza and the West Bank since the beginning of the Israeli deadly assault last October.
In the West Bank, there were 69 attacks on schools documented. Since November 2023, four schools built by the NRC-led West Bank Protection Consortium were demolished or damaged by Israeli authorities or settlers.
58 additional West Bank schools are facing partial or full demolition orders at the current time.
