Turkish and Egyptian Presidents Align on Palestine Amid Ongoing Gaza War

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Wednesday that Turkey and Egypt share a unified stance on the issue of Palestine. During a joint press conference in Ankara with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Erdogan emphasized the commitment of both nations to ending the violence and ensuring the continuous delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

“We are doing all that we can to bring the bloodshed to an end and to continue to deliver the humanitarian aid into Gaza,” Erdogan said. He highlighted that resolving the crisis in Gaza remains a top priority for both countries.

The meeting between the two leaders comes at a time of escalating war by the Israeli occupation in Gaza, with ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza and the West Bank. The situation has resulted in significant casualties, particularly among Palestinian civilians.

Erdogan and el-Sisi reiterated their call for an immediate ceasefire and the need for tangible measures to address the aspirations of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

While the two leaders expressed their shared goals, no concrete actions were announced to de-escalate the situation or broker a ceasefire. The focus of their discussions remained on coordinating humanitarian aid efforts and supporting a political solution to the conflict.

This high-level dialogue between Turkey and Egypt underscores their strategic alignment on the Palestinian issue, despite their own complex bilateral relationship. Both countries have positioned themselves as key players in regional efforts to mediate the conflict and provide relief to the besieged population in Gaza.
