Palestinian children in Gaza, even fetus in mothers’ wombs, have been facing indefinite future and unprecedented harsh conditions of living in light of the ceaseless Israeli attacks on the Gaza enclave.
The Government Media Office published Friday June 14th some significant facts depicting their reality.
With the Israeli war entered its 252 day, in its nine month, 15,694 children have been killed by the Israeli occupation forces, around 34,000 children were injured, and 3,600 children are missing under the rubble.
Approximately, 650,000 children have lost their homes partially or completely due to the devastated air or ground bombardments launched by the Israeli war machines on densely populated areas, including tents and UN displacement centers.
Surprisingly, more than 1,500 children have lost limbs, eyesight, or sustained permanent disabilities due to severe injuries, while more than 200 children were abducted by the Israeli occupation army.
17,000 children will grow up orphans, with 3% of them losing both parents, and over 700,000 children have been forcibly displaced from their homes to far zones.
Living in displacement centers has deteriorated the lives of 3,500 children suffering from chronic diseases, miserably being vulnerable to death due to a preventable combination of dehydration, malnutrition and the lack of necessary medical care.
98% of Gaza’s children do not have access to safe drinking water, relying on less than three liters of water daily, which casts lights on the potential deterioration of their immune and physical health.
In addition, 82,000 children have developed malnutrition, with 35% of them experiencing severe symptoms. Notably, 33 children have lost their lives due to famine and malnutrition.
In terms of their education, 625,000 children have lost their academic year as they have been forced to leave their schools, which turned to be displacement centers facing daily threats of Israeli bombardment.
60,000 fetuses in their mothers’ wombs are at risk of miscarriage, death, or congenital deformities due to the effects of bombs and explosives with about 40,000 infants have not received necessary vaccinations regularly.
The Director General of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that for the past two months, essential goods and nutritional supplements for children have not been allowed to enter, and more than 60 pregnant women have been unable to access medications.
