The Israeli army started to withdraw from Jabalia refugee camp yesterday and has begun to move out of more areas of northern Gaza, including Tall Al-Zaatar, Beit Lahiya and Beit Hanoon, according to reporters on the ground.
In the wake of Israel’s brutal assault on Jabalia, Palestinians started to uncover the trail of devastation in the streets and alleys of the camp, where rescuers and civilians until now are assessing the sheer level of devastation left behind the army.
At least 70 bodies were recovered from Jabalia Camp and the Beit Lahia Project in northern Gaza, following the complete withdrawal of the army this morning, according to local sources.
Palestinians have also excavated the bodies of 20 children who were killed by Israeli airstrikes on UNRWA school after 20 days being buried under the rubble.
UNRWA condemned the massacres against the civilians taking refuge in its schools, saying “We have received harsh reports from Jabalia about children killed and wounded while sheltering themselves in our schools last weeks.”
“Israeli tanks also cordoned off the displaced people and set their tents on fire. Reports, in addition, said the army launched airstrikes on our offices and bulldozed many of them,” the organization further added.
A resident of Jabalia refugee camp told Al Jazeera that “the Israelis have destroyed us. They are testing their missiles on us.”

During the invasion, an Israeli tank targeted and killed paramedics and civil defense teams who were attempting to recover the bodies and assist wounded Palestinians, leaving them to die.
Civil defence Spokesman Mahmoud Basal said Israel’s bloody operation in Jabalia has laid much of the city in ruins, including more than 1,000 homes.
Palestinians, after returning to their destroyed houses, tried to clean up the alleys of Jabalia, sending a steadfast message that “if the uncivilized army distort the face of our camp, we will beautify it with our unity and cooperation. Further, we will never give up our resistance.”
