Israeli occupation forces IOF arrested 13 Palestinian citizens from the Gaza Strip during the past month of September 2023.
Abdul Nasser Farwana, an expert on prisoner affairs, stated that the occupation authorities detained 13 Gazan citizens in September after they crossed the eastern and northern borders of the Strip.
Fishermen
Farwana noted that among those arrested were two fishermen who were detained while working off the coast of the Gaza Strip.
Around 4,500 fishermen in Gaza are urging for international protection, an end to the maritime blockade, the ability to acquire fishing equipment and boat engines, and the cessation of restrictions on permitted fishing zones.

Since 2006, the Israeli air, land, and sea blockade has prohibited Palestinian fishermen in Gaza from purchasing essential materials for boat repairs, including motors, propellers, fiberglass, and more.
Out of a total of 5,200 Palestinian detainees, more than 190 Gazan citizens are held in Israeli prisons, including 26 who are serving life sentences and 31 who have been continuously detained for more than 20 years.
