Israeli occupation forces escalated their violations against Palestinain people in the occupied city of Jerusalem in August 2023.
During the reporting period, at least 3891 colonial Israeli settlers invaded the courtyards of Al-Aqsa mosque and performed provocative Talmudic rituals in some of its yards. All colonial settlers and the settlements in which they live are illegal under international law.
The report recorded the Israeli occupation detention of at least 135 Palestinians including 3 women and 24 minors.
Moreover, at least 48 arrest decisions were issued by the Israeli occupation including 6 administrative detentions, 14 house arrests, and 11 prison sentences, according to data collected by Marsad Network.
At the same time, the Israeli occupation issued 38 banishment orders against Jerusalemite activists and employees of the Jerusalem Waqf (Endowment) Department, al-Qastal reported.
Israeli troops wounded 14 Palestinians varying between live and rubber-coated metal bullets, severe attacks by Israeli forces and settlers, burns, head injuries, and fractures, in addition to hundreds of suffocation cases as a result of tear gas canisters being fired directly towards Palestinians.
During the reporting period, Israeli settlers have carried out 18 attacks against Palestinians and their property in occupied Jerusalem, including severely beating Palestinians, land theft, violating Islamic and Christian sanctities, and writing racist slogans on Jerusalemites’ cars and sabotaging them.
The Israeli occupation forces leveled 12 Palestinian-owned structures in occupied Jerusalem, leaving its people homeless.
During the reporting period, Israeli occupation forces deliberately killed 4 Palestinian men in occupied Jerusalem, according to the Data collected by Days Of Palestine.
On August 1, Israeli occupation forces killed the 20-year-old Palestinain youth Muhannad Al-Mazraa from the town of Al-Eizariya by shooting him directly. Al-Mazraa carried out a Shooting attack against Israeli settlers in the illegal settlement of Ma’ale Adumim, leaving 6 injuries.
On August 15, Israeli troops murdered the 16-year-old youth Qusay Omar Al-Walji from Al-Walaja village during a military raid into the Aqabat Jabr camp in Jericho.
The 33-year-old man Ahmed Hamza Abu Sneina from the village of Al-Issawiya succumbed on August 17 to the wounds he sustained from Israeli bullets in Al-Aqsa Mosque two years ago.
On August 30, Israeli forces killed the 17-year-old youth Khaled Samer Zaanin from the town of Beit Hanina after he carried out a stabbing attack that injured an Israeli settler.
Israeli occupation authorities strive to impose a new reality on the occupied city of Jerusalem through the implementation of dangerous colonial settlement projects.
Israeli occupation approved 4 settlement projects in various areas of occupied Jerusalem including:
- Israeli occupation approves the so-called ‘five-year plan’ aiming to impose complete control over the occupied city, and ultimately change its Arab and Islamic identity.
- A new Israeli plan to establish 2,430 settlements and 500 hotel units in the occupied city. The plan aims to permanently isolate the city of Jerusalem from its Palestinian surroundings.
- A plan by the far-right Israeli Minister of Security Itamar Ben Gvir includes allocating $40 million to establish new settlement roads for linking settlements built on the Palestinian stolen lands, make new police stations, and deploy more security surveillance cameras.
